YEAH. JERRY AND LORI CURTIS GROFF ALSO AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS JUST KURT HERE AT THE WHITE OAK CHURCH, WHERE HE ATTENDED SERVICES AND WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER, IS BEING HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM. I AM SURE ALL OF YOU OUT THERE WHO HAVE CHILDREN CAN IMAGINE THE CHALLENGE THAT HIS FAMILY IS GOING THROUGH, BUT DESPITE THE PAIN, HE IS BEING REMEMBERED AS A KIND SPIRIT FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND FOR HIS LOVE FOR THE LORD. IT JUST DON’T FEEL REAL. TONIGHT, A COMMUNITY IS IN MOURNING. HE WOULD HELP ANYBODY. AFTER POLICE SAY 16 YEAR OLD CURTIS GROFF WAS HIT AND KILLED WHILE WORKING ON ON THE SIDE OF WEST SUN HILL ROAD IN PENN TOWNSHIP LAST THURSDAY. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER DROVE OFF AND HAS SINCE BEEN IDENTIFIED, BUT NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED. WELL-ROUNDED, WELL-LIKED YOUNG GUY BOB BROOKHART IS A MEMBER OF THE WHITE OAK CHURCH, BUT WORKED WITH CURTIS FATHER FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS AND IS REMEMBERING THE YOUNG MAN HE SAW GROW UP. HE WAS, UH, COURTEOUS. HE LOVED THE LORD, AND HE WAS A GOOD WORKER. HE WAS JUST A NEAT YOUNG FELLA. HE WAS LOVED BY THE YOUTH GROUP AND AND, UH, BY ALL THE FAMILY. BROOKHART MENTIONS THE 16 YEAR OLD’S LOVE FOR HUNTING AND THAT HE ALSO SERVED AS THE YOUTH GROUP PRESIDENT. AS ANYONE COULD IMAGINE, BROOKHART SAYS THE FAMILY IS GOING THROUGH A DIFFICULT TIME, BUT THAT PRAYER AND SUPPORT WILL SEE THEM THROUGH. I CAN’T FATHOM, UM, WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE. I NEVER LOST A CHILD SO. SO I JUST CAN’T FATHOM THAT. BUT THE LORD GIVES US GRACE AS WE NEED IT. A 16-year-old who was hit and killed in Lancaster County is being remembered as a young man of faith.Curtis Groff was also known as Curt at the White Oak Church in Penn Township, where he attended services and was an active member.Those who knew him said he had a kind spirit, was a leader, and loved the Lord."Well-rounded, well-liked. He would help anybody," church member and family friend Bob Bruckhart said.Groff was struck May 2 while working along the side of West Sun Hill Road.Police said the driver didn't stop. That person has since been identified, but no charges have been filed."He was curious. He loved the Lord, and he was a good worker. He was just a neat young fellow," Bruckhart said.Bruckhart said he worked with Groff's father for nearly 30 years. He's remembering the young man he saw grow up."He was loved by the youth group and by all the family," Bruckhart said.Groff served as the youth group president, and Bruckhart also mentioned the teen's love of hunting.Bruckhart said that while the family is going through a difficult time, prayer and support will see them through."I can't fathom what it would be like – I never lost a child – but the Lord gives us grace as we need it," he said.A celebration of life will be held Saturday morning at White Oak Church.

Those who knew him said he had a kind spirit, was a leader, and loved the Lord.
