Memorial Drive, Appleton, is holding its second annual Holiday Dodgeball Classic starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be junior high, senior high and open competitions.

On New Year's Day, the Appleton YMCA is offering open house festivities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be facility tours and classes, including cycling, pilates and yoga.

Admission for the day is free; visitors who join the YMCA that day will have the annual joiner's fee waived. Hours for the week: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. today through Friday, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Balke, age 89, of Wilson Street, Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the New London Family Medical Center. Margaret was born on May 20, 1916, in the Township of WaukeC ho Shawano County, WI. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary (Splittgerber) Beyer.

Margaret grew up in the Town of Waukechon and later was united in marriage to Frank Balke on Sept. 28, 1938, in Shawano. The couple farmed in the Township of Belle Plaine in Shawano Co. before moving to a farm in the Township of Deer Creek in Outagamie County and later to Clintonville. Frank preceded his wife in death on Sept.

30, 1984. Margaret was a. member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville where she faithfully attended Bible Classes and was involved with prayer groups. Other than farming, Margaret was employed Urban Telephone Co.

in Clintonville, operated a tavern, and worked at a local toy factory. Margaret was an avid bowler in her day and enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors are four daughters, Mary (Lawrence) McKay, Huntley, IL; (William) Laha, Appleton; Kathleen (James) Klingbeil, Clintonville; Barbara (Jeffrey) Noie, Menasha; seven sons, Keith (Maria) Balke, Bear Creek; Clayton Balke, Shawano; Michael (Patricia) Balke, Oshkosh; Stephen Balke, Menasha; Stanley (Fiance Sue Larson) Balke, Kaukauna; Bruce (Karen) Balke, Lake in the Hills, IL; Peter Balke, Neenah; thirty-six grandchildren, forty greatgrandchildren, and two greatgreat-grandchildren, two sisters, Amanda Seehafer, Green Bay; June Mancel, Shawano; one brother-in-law, John Balke, Shawano; four sisters-in-law, Marie Kretz, Antigo; Marion Beyer, Shawano; Hazel Beyer, Shawano; and Ida Wildung, MT; special friends Bernice Plesser, Betty Young, Virginia Stanislawski, and Ethel Wolf all of Clintonville; Norma Zahn, Shawano. Also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, two sons, Charles and Wayne, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, six brothers (Wally, Henry, Eddie, Elmer, Clarence, and Herbert), three sisters (Leona Hesse, Esther LaRose, and Lillian Luckow).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Don Everts officiating, and interment will be in the parish cemetery in Clintonville.
