Madden 23 Franchise Staff Points: All Talents and Effects (2024)

Franchise Staff Points are the Madden 23equivalent of experience points in other games, letting you unlock talents to upgrade your head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and draft personnel. Acquiring these points can be important for everything from keeping your players healthy and boosting blocking power to getting more training XP and increasing play-reading ability.

This Madden 23 guide will tell you how to get Franchise Staff Points to upgrade coaches and list all of the Staff Talent Trees and skills as they’re listed in the game by EA.

How to Get Franchise Staff Points

Franchise Staff Points come from completing weekly team goals, season goals, and legacy goals. You can see your current milestones for each category by going to the Home tab in Franchise Mode and pressing Triangle on PlayStation and Y on Xbox.

To change weekly goals and gameplay goals, select Manage Staff from the Franchise Home tab, then choose Franchise Staff. You can then choose “Select Gameday Goal” below “View Talent Tree” on each card for the HC, OC, DC, and other Personnel. You can also press Triangle or Y in this menu to bring up the Goals menu.

Once you do, a list of milestones will appear, each with the maximum number of points they will confer on the far right. Some will have Franchise Staff Points marked halfway through their completion bars, meaning that you can receive some rewards for completing only half the challenge. To select a new goal, simply highlight the challenge and press X on PlayStation or A on Xbox.

To quickly farm and run up Franchise Staff Points to upgrade coaches, you can play your first season on Rookie difficulty and choose goals like getting 5+ offensive TDs (HC) for 4FSP, get over 400+ offensive yards (OC) for 10FSP, allow 10 points or less (DC) 10FSP, and 5+ rushing TDs (Weekly Gameplan) for 8FSP.

To see your selected goals while playing a game, simply pause the game. You will see them under the Goals tab. You’ll be able to set your Season Goal before the first game of the regular season. Setting a larger Season Goal here means more Staff Points at the end of the season but a higher chance of being fired as an HC if you fail.

  • 4 wins = +8 Staff Points.
  • 7 wins = +15 Staff Points.
  • Make the Playoffs = + 20 Staff Points.
  • Win the Super Bowl = +50 Staff Points.

Lastly, there are also Scenario Goals based on how you answer Gameday Keys when talking to the press or when a player has a breakout performance. For example, telling the press you’ll stifle the run or having a player ball out the previous week can add various Scenario Goals to the current week’s gameplan. These challenges are found in the same panel as the others, on the right side of the primary Franchise screen.

Head Coach Talents

You can find the various Talent Trees to improve coaches by choosing Manage Staff from the main Franchise screen. Click “View Talent Tree” on your HC’s card, then tab between the various coaches and sections across the top. Note that Talent Trees have branching paths in some areas, and choosing the first node on one side of the path will lock all of the talents in the opposite side of the path in some instances until they merge further down, so choose wisely. You can lock yourself out of Talents.

Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, and Player Personnel Talent Trees can be reset by purchasing the Mistakes Were Made skill at the bottom of the Head Coach’s Staff Modifications skill tree for 30 points.
